I need a heavy duty steel plate about 26" by 18" and perforated with 1/8 inch holes spaced 1/2 inch apart. The plate needs to be strong enough to handle a great deal of sustained pressure over minutes at a time without bending or turning into a potato chip. Any ideas?

What is the best brand for a heavy duty commuter backpack?
I need to buy a really nice bag. I will be moving to Brazil so I need something comfortable that will breathe well. What is the best bag, or brand for bags. I was thinking maybe a deuterusa.com bag? Or how are mountainsmith bags? Jansport? If anyone has any suggestions please comment. I will spend 100-150 price range on the bag.
I will be walking, not biking. I forgot to mention that.

It depends on the size of the bag, your own physical build, and how the bag fits you. Backpacks are as individual as shoes.
Jansport: This bag was good 30+ years ago. They’ve become totally middle of the road since.
Mountainsmith have been around awhile and have a very good reputation
Kelty: I really like their Redwing panel loading (rather than top loading) mid sized backpack. It fits me really well, has plenty of room for most things I need, and a reasonable price.

I would seriously look at Jandd. They make both backpacks and panniers. Their build quality is second to none. I’ve had Jannd panniers for 10 years without a single hitch and they still look like new. I’ve had their expedition panniers and found they are quite water resistant. They’ll keep out the majority of weather. And if you choose, they make water proof panniers.

The other really top end panniers and/or backpack are Ortlieb. They are best known for being waterproof and durable. These have a great reputation that has been earned. Their backpack is a little more of a modified dry bag with shoulder straps, but I haven’t had an opportunity to try it.

My fiancee used heavy duty degreaser as a washing liquid for his auto detailing rags in our washer. Is this safe. Can he substitute the laundry detergent for heavy duty degreaser…

I wouldn’t do it, the degreaser will ruin all the rubber seals in your washer. If it has already been done, run a couple cycles with a high grade detergent. Besides that, you shouldn’t use your dryer for items that have flammable liquids on them, even diluted, it is dangerous.

It will be months before you see any problems but they will come.

I need to cut a heavy duty lock as the key is lost, how can I do it? Bolt cutters? If so, what type? I don’t want to spend too much more than $50 on tools which i would need only once… Thanks!

Most hardware stores will rent you a large bolt cutters by the hour for a job like that. It will cost much less than $50

I’m trying to sew on canvas with a 30 year old Kenmore but it is really struggling. I don’t want an industrial machine, I’m not planning on starting a business, I just want to sew really heavy material. What works best for you?

Personally I use the Bernina Quilter’s Edition, but I don’t sew such heavy materials. It does sew through denim seams nicely. I do go through many layers when machine quilting (top, wadding and backing) and I can buy quite thick needles over the counter. However, I’m sure there are other brands which would do just as well. If sewing canvas is going to be the main use I honestly think an industrial machine would be best, as the motors on domestics will burn out with a lot of heavy use.

Can a Indian Driver with Indian Heavy Duty License work in UK. as a Heavy duty or Light Duty Vehicle Driver.? If yes , how much can he be paid ? and what formalities needs to be Done.

I have seen somewhere – but can’t remember where heavy duty green garden trellis 6′x6′ panels with the slats about 3/4" square. I think they may be made of recycled plastic. Can anyone help?
The trellis holding up my clematis can rotted and crumbled under the weight so I did a very heavy cut back last weekend, but I need to find a replacement that can take the weight and won’t rot.
