2003 Ford Ranger Tonneau bed cover (hard 2 piece) parts needed?
07.January, 2010
Does anyone have any idea where I can find parts for a 2003 Ford Ranger Tonneau cover (hard 2 piece). I am in need of the plastic ring that holds the lock cylinder and lock cylinder cover. Any help would be appreciated. Ford was not much help.
Thank you.
I had the same issue! I went to a local truck cover dealer. He recognized the cap (remember the name) and sold me the part. This is a generic part, for 20.00 I bought two lock assemblies.

Best brand of tonneau cover?
12.December, 2009
Can anyone tell me the best brand of pickup bed tonneau covers? I recently purchased a Truxport without doing much research so i was just wondering how they rated and what the pros and cons were.
Well, that depends. Are we talking about soft tonneau covers (like the Truxport you bought) or are we talking about ALL tonneau covers (which includes soft tonneaus and hard tonneaus?)
So, what is a good brand of soft tonneau cover? Truxedo is a good brand. They make the Truxport cover that you purchased, and a few others. It’s a good brand and you should be happy with your cover.
What is a good brand of hard tonneau cover? Gaylords makes great fiberglass tonneau covers, and so does ArmorLid, and Pace Edwards.
tonneau cover painting?
14.November, 2009
ok so i just bought a topdeck tonneau cover for my 98 ranger on craigslist.. the problem is that my truck is red.. and its gold.. it doesnt look too bad but id like to save up some money to get it painted.. im talking about bare minimum.. anyone know how much it would cost?
This is relatively easy.Find a NAPA store in the area, that has a paint mixing facility. The have a paint scanner, which looks like a gun from a science fiction movie. They will put it against a panel on your truck, and it will digitally read out,the formula of the color of your truck. They can then print up that formula for you. Then, you can sand the cover down as much as you can and take it to a body shop, who can mix up the paint for you and paint it,the exact match for your truck. In all, about $60,depending where you live.
how to get a tonneau cover on in the cold?
21.September, 2009
ok, so i’m having some difficulty putting on my tonneau cover. It’s an xtang vinyl (no button snaps)…it just snaps into place on the rails…it seems as though the vinyl isn’t large enough, but my boyfriend keeps telling me it’s because it’s cold out and the vinyl is suffering from shrinkage…and that it needs to be warmer out in order to put the cover on. I need to drive to work tonight and would really like it on. It’s about 40 ..45 degrees outside today. Is there anyway i can get this cover on?
yeh…well it’s clipped to the one side of the frame and i’d have to take the whole frame apart and in order for that to work i’d need to like assemble it in under a minute and stretch it out that quick..i dont see that being possible..thanks for the suggestion though (no sarcasm)
Take it in the house for a few hours.
Then take it outside this afternoon and put it on quickly.
Vinyl shrinks in cold weather.
It expands when warm.
